Do you want a pay rise? - Lobby the Council - 26th September









LOBBY THE COUNCIL -
26TH SEPTEMBER AT 5.30 PM

UNISON members along with friends, family and colleagues are invited to attend our lobby of North Somerset Council's meeting on 26th September at 5.30 pm outside the Town Hall in Weston super Mare. Labour councillors are proposing a motion on our pay claim and we need to be there to support them and show all councillors what we think of the pay cap. UNISON will provide placards, or you can bring your own! Meet at 5.30 pm on 26th September outside the Town Hall.

An Evening of Music and Politics with Steve Knightley and Guest Speakers

Last night at the Blakehay Theatre in Weston super Mare, North Somerset UNISON members and friends attended an evening of music and politics. The evening was compered by Richard Capps, Secretary of Weston and North Somerset Trades Union Council. Our guest speakers were Steve Timmins from the Save Weston A&E Campaign, Nigel Costley SWTUC Regional Secretary and Joanne Kaye UNISON SW Regional Secretary. The speakers were followed by a brilliant performance by Steve Knightley, who performed a selection of songs especially for us.

End Austerity - March and Rally in Bristol on 9th September

North Somerset UNISON members joined the march and rally in Bristol on 9th September. The demonstration was called by Mayor Rees to send a message to central government that local councils need funding. Here are a few photos from the day:









Save Weston A&E - Candle Lit Vigil and Demonstration on 4th and 5th September

UNISON members joined colleagues from Protect our NHS North Somerset, Weston & North Somerset Trades Union Council and Weston Labour Party at a Candle Lit Vigil and Demonstration to mark 2 months since the overnight closure of Weston's A&E Dept.
